Etymology
Although etymology was not specified in the original coining, it is assumed that the term comes from the root word candy, suffixed with the popular gender suffix -ic.

History
Candyic was coined on November 26th of 2018 by Mason, a popular MOGAI blogger on Tumblr, alongside several subsets. Two days later on November 28th, Tumblr user uncommongenders recoined the term with a very similar definition. While the user has since deactivated, a mirror of the post remains on their Wordpress blog.
The term's first flag was created by Tumblr user nebularomantic on or before the date of November 29th, 2018.[3] As the original user has since deactivated, the only remaining records come in the form of reblogs. An alternative flag for the term was created several months later on January 26th of 2019 by Mason.[4] Another alternative flag was posted for the term on November 10th of 2020, uploaded by FANDOM user AkoiFish.[5]
