History

Elegender was coined on or before July 17, 2014 by Tumblr user robotxt posted to Pride-Flags-For-Us, who created the flag on the same date.^[1]^[2]

A user named robotxt at the time submitted this to MOGAI-archive. Purrloinsucks, a Tumblr blog that archived posts from MOGAI-archive, has a reblog of the original coining post dated August 26th, 2014.^[3]

On August 29, 2015, Pride-flags on deviantart posted newly designed elegender flags; one with horizontal stripes^[4] and one that looks more similar to the original.^[5]
