Minecraftgender is a gender related to Minecraft, and also serves as an umbrella term for any genders connected to Minecraft. It can be related to being otherkin and/or having kingenders. Minecraftgender can relate to the atmosphere of the game itself or certain mobs/blocks, that are exclusive to, or well-known because of Minecraft (such as creepers, villagers, etc).

While none of the coining posts specifically state this, it can be assumed that Minecraftgender comes from the parts "Minecraft", the game title, and "gender". For "MCGender", this likely comes from the popular acronym for Minecraft, MC.

As of now, there are four known coinings of the term, and likely more to come. While some have slight name variations, all of them are similar in that they are genders related to Minecraft. It is unknown if the four coiners were aware of each other at the times of posting.

The first found coining is on June 23rd, 2021 by Twitter user cooIguyted.[4] There was no definition provided, simply the flag, name, and some subcategories. The second found coining is on November 19th, 2020 by Tumblr user strawberrytoby.[5] The third was on October 20, 2020, by Twitter user ENKANOMlYAN.[6] The fourth was posted by Instagram user petgender on January 7th, 2021.[7]
